Felicidad, Happiness

(You can find the English translation below the picture)

I was thinking about topics for my blog. And I decided to talk about something essential for me in these first posts. I am going to talk about where I find happiness. When I decided to create this blog I wanted to transmit those details that make me feel happy.

When someone asks me “are you happy?”, my answer is always “yes”. I have always answered “yes”. It is an automatic response. I don’t actually think if I am happy. I think I don’t give myself that option. I mean, I have always had something that makes me happy during my whole life. Anyway, I have always found easily those little details. That is why I want to share this little guide to find happiness.

Little guide to find happiness
  • Where. Firstly, the most important thing is realising that happiness is not in the outside. Happiness is found inside everyone. We just have to learn the path to get there.
  • How. Making that journey should not need something from the outside. But it can be difficult. That’s why we can get something to help us from the outside.
  • What. The things that I buy are not usually what make me happy. I find happiness in feelings or experiences that I found in my everyday life. For instance:

o   Getting wet when it is raining. That experience makes me feel alive and it reminds me that path to happiness.
o   Finding a beautiful flower, tree, sky… the sky is always there. But what is necessary is to be aware of its beauty. If you appreciate its beauty wherever you are you can look at the sky and feel that happiness. The same happens when you appreciate the beauty of nature. Wherever you go there will be a beautiful tree, flower, landscape…. You just have to learn how to look around you.
o    A beautiful colour. That reminds me of one day. I was having breakfast in my terrace and I was looking at the trees. Suddenly, I realise how beautiful the colour of the leaves was. And I thought, I always want to be able to appreciate this colour! In that moment I started smiling because I was aware of how easy it is to find beauty. Colours are always there, you just have to spend some seconds paying attention to them and your day would improve immediately.
o    A kind person. Nowadays, people are very independent. I don’t usually talk to strangers. But sometimes I do. And if that strange person is kind, my day is going to be happier. Of course, this has to start in myself. I have to be kind if I want to find kindness. A nice word can make a day much brighter.
o    Positive thoughts. I have always thought that thoughts are contagious. I mean, a positive thought pass on to other thoughts and it makes them positive too. However a negative thought makes more negative thoughts. If I am in a happy moment and a negative thought appears in my mind, I have to think in something happy very quickly. This makes the negative thought disappear.  I haven’t invented this. This is a meditation technique and it is very useful for those moments in which your mind thinks without control. It is important to know how to control your mind and take it to positive paths.

These are the things that make me happy. Of course, there are many thoughts, objects, places, images or ideas that can make me and you happy everyday. I/you just have to know how to look around. There is always something that can improve your day. I will post these happy things in the blog.
